Sporting’s handball and futsal stars were in Mundo Sporting (museum) this afternoon, to put on display the recently conquered Challenge Cup and National Division 1 trophy. In what was a relaxed ceremony with the director of Mundo Sporting, Mário Casquilho, Bosko Bjelanovic and João Benedito, captains of the two teams, placed the two cups into the care of Sporting’s museum.
"I was very satisfied with having won these titles, especially the Challenge Cup, which is a European cup that allows Sporting to put on display its 22nd European triumph. We are the club with the third most European titles (behind Real Madrid and Barcelona), but we are now on level pegging with Barcelona in having won European trophies across four different sports; making us the only two clubs to have that record. In relation to futsal, it is also a very important victory, especially with us not having won anything in that sport since 2006", noted Mário Casquilho.
