06-02-2010 Rui Patrício: "These things happen in football"
In a flash interview following the clash with Académica, the Sporting custodian noted: "It is bad when we concede at the very beginning of a game, but these things happen in football. Its not easy to accept, but these things happen and we have to keep our heads up. I know that I am probably going to be on the receiving end of a lot of goals for my entire career, but I will always try to prove myself. We pushed on in the second half, but we suffered another goal and were unable to respond."
Asked about the whistles coming from a few sections of the crowd, Rui Patrício noted: "I have no problem with being whistled at. It goes in one ear and out of the other."
As for Tuesday's League Cup showdown with Benfica, the Sporting shot-stopper noted: "We will do everything to get the win. It is always hard for the fans to swallow a bitter- tasting result like this one. We are a bit upset right now, but we are Sporting fans through the good and the bad. I need the support of the fans come Tuesday."
