Khalid Boulahrouz has become the latest player to put on the Sporting shirt, signing a two-year deal with a further optional year.
“I am really ambitious, just like Sporting, and I think that I will fit in well at this Club. I am going to do everything I can to win things with this team and I hope I can make the fans happy”, said the Dutch centre-back, who joins Sporting from Stuttgart on a free move.
Boulahrouz also spoke about what he already knows about Sporting: “I love the Stadium and I felt just like how I feel when I am at home in my living room. I am really excited for being given the chance to play here. A lot of amazing players have played here before me, the Club has a brilliant Academy with good young players and Sporting has a long history with lots of titles.”
The Dutch international has certainly seen his share of action throughout Europe, having spent time in the Dutch (Ajax, AZ Alkmaar and RKC Waalwijck), German (Hamburg and Stuttgart), English (Chelsea) and Spanish (Sevilla) leagues. For Boulahrouz, the Portuguese league poses yet another challenge: “I like how they play in Portugal, but the atmosphere here is also good. I have played in Portugal twice already and I know that the teams play with their hearts. That appeals to me.”
