Biography
Bryan Ruiz González

Born in San José, Bryan Ruiz's first experience with the ball at his feet was with under his grandfather's watchful eye, before moving to Liga Deportiva Alajualense. Although his talent was obvious very early on, Ruiz actually considered abandoning football before his career even took off, after his opportunities to play dwindled under a new coach. However, the skillful forward battled his way back and went on to move to Gent after winning the league in Costa Rica. One of four players who traveled to Europe from Alajualense, he was certainly the most successful and eventually made the switch to Twente. He took on Sporting in the Champions League play-offs and went on to play a key role in the Dutch side's league win, before moving to Fulham.

“Jesus had already shown interest in me when he was at Benfica. He is a good coach and I want to repay the confidence that has been shown on me", said Ruiz on moving to Sporting.
