Bruno de Carvalho at the Wilmer López Academy

Bruno de Carvalho's visit to Costa Rica continued this week. After opening the first Sporting Academy School in Central America, the Sporting CP president was at the Wilmer López Academy where Costa Rica are gearing up for their coming World Cup 2018 qualifiers.

After visiting the facility, the Bruno de Carvalho was ready to share his thoughts. "This is a world class facility. I spoke with the president and I told him that these facilities are magnificent and I understand the quality of the football that this country produces", said the Alvalade chief, adding a note on his memories of the Costa Rican national team: "Reaching the quarter-finals at the last World Cup was not an accident. This team will still surprise us. They are packed full of talent and have everything needed for the players to grow even more."

Also on hand to highlight the importance of the Sporting Academy School project was the Wilmer López Academy's Édgar Artavia: "I am really happy with the way that the Costa Rica Federation has welcomed Sporting CP. In terms of football these kinds of relationships are crucial and I feel really proud. They have already told us that our facilities are on the same level as the Europeans."

To finish, FEDEFUTEBOL president Rodolfo Villalobos also gave his backing to the project: "Hopefully this is just the beginning of a great relationship with Sporting CP."
