Alvalade secure 12-goal lead ahead of second-leg aginst AC Doukas

Sporting CP secured a comfortable win by margin of 12 (35-23) this Saturday against the Greek side AC Doukas, in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals.

The team from Alvalade dominated from start to finish and had already established a 3-0 lead before the Greeks found the back of the net for the first time, after five minutes of action. Building on their solid opening, Hugo Canela's side smartly managed the rest of the half and went in at the break with a 21-10 lead.

Canela used the second-half to rotate his players, bringing on the young goalkeeper Manuel Gaspar in place of Cudic, but it made little difference to the balance of proceedings and by the time the full-time whistle blow Sporting CP had constructed a 12-goal cushion for the second-leg.
