History

Since pre-historic times, man has always made use of the bow and arrow to hunt and survive.

Mythology is also littered with figures using the humble weapon, including Ulysses, the mythical founder o Lisbon, and Paris in in the Trojan war to defeat Achilles.

The appearance of firearms took away from the usefulness of the bow and arrow, however it is still a popular as part of the sport of archery to this day. An Olympic sport since 1972, the discipline is governed in Portugal by the Portuguese Archery Federation.
