Koba Koindredi has joined Sporting Clube de Portugal through to 2028, with a buyout clause of 60 million euros.

The midfielder arrives at the club from Spanish side Valencia CF, after having played the first half of this season at GD Estoril Praia.

The 22-year-old was officially presented on Thursday, and said “It is a source of pride, a pleasure and an enormous joy to be here. Playing for a big club like Sporting CP was one of my goals. We all want to play in different competitions, particularly European ones, and fight for trophies. Here, I can do that.”

Introducing himself, Koindredi described himself as “a player with a lot of quality with his feet, technique and physical ability, and very calm. I always want to help the team."

With roots in New Caledonia, Koba Koindredi moved to France at a young age, joining Fréjus Saint-Raphael. He later moved to RC Lens and then to Spain and Valencia CF in 2018/19.

He played 19 first team games and scored two goals at the Spanish club, then had a loan spell at Real Oviedo CF - making 20 appearances and scoring one goal.

Explaining his loan spell in Portugal, he said “I made the decision to come here because I knew that the Portuguese league was very good, especially for young players to be able to establish themselves. I wanted to get minutes and play in order to grow, so that's why I came. Now I have moved here because I know that Sporting CP are committed to young players."

At GD Estoril Praia, Koindredi shared the dressing room with Mateus Fernandes, who is on loan there from Sporting CP.

“He told me that It was a wonderful club, with very good people, and told me to enjoy it.”

“The atmosphere at the Estádio José Alvalade is amazing. It’s a very beautiful stadium, very big, and I’ve seen that with the fans there it’s a crazy atmosphere. I will work hard to do my best and to help the club win trophies."
