The Dutchman previews the meeting with Atalanta BC

Jeremiah St. Juste spoke at the press conference held ahead of the clash between Sporting Clube de Portugal and Atalanta BC in the UEFA Europa League.

Upon arrival in Bergamo, the central defender talked to journalists about his recovery from injury and performances in recent games.

“I feel very good and ready. I have trained and worked hard. This is an exciting and important game, and I’m ready for it. Working hard and being mentally strong has been the key to coming back in my best form. The team and the staff at the club have helped me a lot. I believe that my injury is already in the past and I am excited looking to the future, where we have big games ahead of us -starting tomorrow.”

Regarding the meeting with Atalanta BC, St. Juste said that "We will have a good game plan. We have already played them three times this season, and we have shown in those games that we can deal well with what they bring. I trust in our game plan and that we will be able to stop them one-on-one and contend with their physicality,” he added.

Asked about the performances of some of the players who came through whilst he was injured, as was the case with Eduardo Quaresma, he responded positively.

“It’s great that the rest of the players did really well. They made me believe I could reach the top of my game. We have a fantastic squad and it’s great to have several options for squad depth."

St. Juste admitted that he spoke to several Dutch compatriots at Atalanta BC, some of whom are long-time acquaintances.

“I played with Marten de Roon at SC Heerenveen, my first club, so I know him very well. I was also with Teun Koopmeiners in the national team. It's good to play against them. Hans Hateboer lives in the Netherlands, in the same place where I come from. We have a good connection and it’s great to play against them, without a doubt.”
