III Sporting Summer School starts 4th of July

The III Sporting Summer School will get underway at the Sporting Academy in Alcochete on Monday, the 4th of June.

The weekly courses (in July and August) last 44 hours (Monday to Friday and Saturday morning) are certified  by the Portuguese Institute for Sports and Youth for the Sports Coach Training and are worth 8.8 credits for the renewal of Professional Coaching Licences.

Three Revolution stars in Lisbon as part of partnership with Sporting

Sporting Clube de Portugal will be home to Zachary Herivaux, Sean Okoli and Donnie Smith from the North American side New England Revolution for the next three weeks. Club director Michael Burns and first team coach Jay Heaps will head up the group, arriving in Lisbon on the 29th of November.

“Sporting is know for developing new talents and we think these three players can really benefit from training at the top level while we are not involved in competition", said Michael Burns about the initiative.

Sporting Clube de Portugal and New England Revolution penned a strategic partnership back in October 2014, with the goal of working closer together on training and scouting across both clubs.

Lions set out foundations of new football school

Luís Bernardo, administrator who coordinates the communication and public affairs company working with the club, was in Dili last weekend, where he had the opportunity to give a shirt signed by the Sporting Clube de Portugal president Bruno de Carvalho to the leaders of Sporting Clube de Timor: Jaime Santos, leader of Sporting Affiliate number 85, and Zacarias da Costa, former Timor Minister of Foreign Affairs and the current president of the Sporting Clube de Timor General Assembly.

The occasion also served to set out the foundations for a partnership looking at the creation of a new Sporting football school, soon to open in Dili in what will be totally renovated facilitates that will also house futsal, basketball and tennis.

The Sporting Academy once ranks with the world's elite

The Sporting Academy is again attracting the headlines, this time named in the world top 15 by the German version of the ‘90min’ site.

Aurélio Pereira’s role as one of the “most experienced European coaches” is also noted, with 90min also citing the examples of Cristiano Ronaldo, Quaresma, Simão and Nani as products of the academy, as well as the millions of euros generated from player transfers.
