Alvalade returns to the top European stage with a podium finish

Sporting CP finished runner-up in the European Champions Club Cup Cross Country, after tallying a total of 45 points.

In the individual event, Sporting CP's Rabah Aboud also finished second.

The Algerian led the pack for most of the 9,730m event, before being beaten to the top of the podium by Yemaneberham Crippa (Fiamme Oro Padova Club, Italy).

The result comes despite the absence of Hélio Gomes and Rui Pedro Silva and marks Sporting CP's return to podium sports of a competition already claimed by Alvalade on 14 occasions.
