Albino Rodríguez invited for Sporting CP-Boavista

President of Club Affiliate Sporting Clube Pro Venezuela in Alvalade

Albino Rodríguez, president of Sporting Clube Pro Venezuela, Sporting Clube de Portugal affiliate 153, has been invited to attend Sporting's hosting of Boavista at 20h00 on Monday, in Estádio José Alvalade.

The Venezuelan consul in Lisbon, Edinson Alberto Sánchez, will also attend in representation of ambassador Lucas Rincón Romero.

Sporting Clube Pro Venezuela was founded on the 2nd of August 1985 by a group of immigrants.

Today, the Referees Association (APAF), Players Syndicate (SJPF) and Coaches Association (ANTF) began an initiative called ON THE PITCH WE PLAY THE SAME GAME. The idea is to bring the three groups together with the clubs.

Sessions with coaches and technical staff to elaborate on refereeing and other issues will also be held.

Sporting Clube de Portugal was chosen to open the programme, due to the club's work over the last two and a half years to work to bring credibility and modernity to football.

The work put in to defend a modern modern, transparent and fair sport is recognised by everyone.

The banning of funds and the introduction of new technologies are fantastic victories and Sporting Clube de Portugal is proud to have contributed.

Today, in the presence of the president of the APAF, José Fontelas Gomes, the president of the Players Syndicate, Joaquim Evangelista, and the initiative's ambassador,  Duarte Gomes, was extremely positive and Sporting Clube de Portugal's door will always be open.

Eurosport award attributed to Sporting's fans

Sporting's fans have been absolutely unbelievable this season, roaring the team on to various memorable comebacks and a handful of victories over the club's main rivals. In recognition of the Sporting faithful, Eurosport has named Alvalade's fans as the best in Europe.

The voting was split into two phases, with the first to decide the finalists out of a group of 20. In both rounds, Sporting led the pack. The final tally gave Sporting 200,000 votes, a massive 150,000 ahead of second-placed Spartak Moscow. 

 

 

II Liga Chinese sponsors visit Sporting Academy

Ledman CEO Martin Lee in Alcochete

The Sporting Academy hosted a visit from the new sponsors of II Liga this week. Also attending the visit of the Chinese company Ledman was the president of the Portuguese Professional Football League, Pedro Proença. "China is doing a lot in sports training now and with them wanting to learn so much, we couldn't let the chance to visit the Sporting Academy go", affirmed Pedro Proença about the visit.

The committee, headed by CEO Martin Lee, was hosted by Vírgilio Lopes. After a guided visit around the vast complex, Martin Lee himself explained what led to investment in Portugal: "The Chinese football market is only starting now. We are here to study and to learn about football culture and the training system used in Portugal."

The objective, affirmed the Ledman CEO, is to "link Portuguese and Chinese football and to train more quality Chinese players". Speaking on the same links, Pedro Proença added that "the Chinese have three main objective over the coming years: to quality for the World Cup, to organise a World Cup and to win the World Cup."

The visit finished with a presentation of an official Sporting shirt to Martin Lee.

Club makes new move with Portuguese speaking countries

Sporting Clube de Portugal is now part of the CPLP (Community of Portuguese Language Countries) Business Centre. The move comes as part of the club's continued efforts in Portuguese speaking countries, with Sporting's investment in development and cooperation through sport building bridges across communities.

Sporting has already opened the doors of new Academies in Angola and Equatorial Guinea, with plans to open facilities in Cape Verde already set out. The club also has a protocol agreement with the government of São Tomé and Príncipe and takes part in a wealth of activities in Mozambique, Timor and Guinea Bissau.

“For the CPLP Business Federation, we are really proud and happy to have a new partner in the form of such a historic institution as Sporting Clube de Portugal. The club's eclecticism and presence throughout the CPLP is sure to see the Sporting brand a powerful ally in transforming our community into something that looks to the future," said Salimo Abdula, president of the CPLP Business Federation.

“In name of the CPLP Exporters Union and the Confederation, I congratulate Sporting Clube de Portugal for coming into this business platform, designed to get the best out of the CPLP. We all know Sporting's history, its main symbols, its mythical athletes and its recognised youth training. Together, we will be stronger", added Mário Costa, lider of the CPLP Exporters Union.

Bruno de Carvalho signs protocol with Loures Municipal Council

Sporting Clube de Portugal and the Loures Municipal Council signed a protocol today which will help develop futsal in Loures and open up opportunities for young players. Taking part in the session was Bruno de Carvalho, Sporting president, Bernardino Soares, leader of the Loures Council, Rui Caeiro, Sporting board member, and Paulo Piteira Leão, vice-president for sport and youth.

Bruno de Carvalho praised the club's relationship with Loures, highlighting the area's support for Sporting's teams: "It is an honour to be here after 10 years of partnership between Sporting Clube de Portugal and the Loures Municipality. Sporting is an eclectic club and a lot of different sports, as well as social responsibility, are in our blood. Loures has been like a second home to us. We have always had a lot of respect for each other, because it is one of the cities that puts the most into the healthy development of its population. Let's hope that I am here in 10 years' time celebrating 20!"

"It is an important step for the Loures Municipal Council. Both entities get something out of this and you can see that in the word we have been doing", added Bernardino Soares, before announcing that 80 children will have the chance to access free training in the municipality.

UEFA confirms Sporting's compliance with financial regulations

Club Financial Control Body removed Alvalade from settlement regime

UEFA's Club Financial Control Body announced that Sporting is now in compliance with financial fair play regulations this afternoon.

"The UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) investigatory chamber, headed by chief investigator Yves Leterme, has provided updates on Hull City (England), Panathinaikos (Greece) and Sporting CP (Portugal), who all concluded settlement agreements last year. The three clubs were found to have fully complied with the terms of their agreements. As a consequence, they have exited the settlement regime", reads the statement on the body's official website.

Club meets to dicuss recent progress

Sporting Clube de Portugal held a General Assembly this weekend, to provide overview to the actions being undertaken by the current Board of Directors. An overview of a total of 110 actions was provided, 100 of which have already been executed, as well as 22 additional measures which have also been executed.

For item number 2, the Club's consolidated accounts were approved by 97% of votes cast, while the transfer of Sporting TV to the Club was approved under item number 3.

"Everything was unanimously approved"

Bruno de Carvalho on the SAD shareholder and CCD holder meetings this week

Sporting Clube de Portugal – Futebol, SAD and club president Bruno de Carvalho proved satisfied with the result of the two General Assemblies held this week (SAD shareholders and Compulsory Convertible Debenture (CCD) holders).

“The General Assembly was quick, but it wasn't an easy day. Everything was unanimously approved by all banks and even the smallest debenture holder. These is still the opportunity to ask for conversation up until Friday, but we are happy because everything was unanimously approved and I believe that the banks will comply with the rest of the agreement", said Bruno de Carvalho at the end of the meetings.

In parallel, the Sporting president also shared his thoughts on Sunday's hosting of Sp. Braga: "I hope we don't make the mistakes we did last time, which actually was a good match with two good teams. Every match is important and we have to look at them all in the same way. That is the only way we will get to May with the objectives we want."
