Teenage goalkeeper has been at the club since 2017/18

Sixteen year old goalkeeper Diogo Pinto has signed a professional contract with Sporting Clube de Portugal.

Part of the club's youth setup since the 2017/2018 season, Pinto was previously on the books at FC Felgueiras 1932 -where he played as a defender and midfielder - and FC Paços de Ferreira.

"This is a great display of confidence in me by Sporting CP. Now the responsibilities I have will increase. I decided that the best thing for me was to stay at Sporting CP," said the teenage shot-stopper, part of the Under-15s National Championship-winning side in 2018/2019.

An Under-16s international for Portugal, Pinto is setting his aspirations high at club level.

"My dream is to get into the first team. That's the dream for everyone who is here. Not everyone will succeed, so it is necessary to work hard and have ambition and humility," he promised.

Ahead of his fourth season at the club, Pinto told fans and sponsors to "continue with your support for Sporting CP, so that we may get stronger all the time."
