Sporting CP beat Cadiz 6-4 with a hattrick from Ott

Sporting CP's beach soccer team beat the Spanish side Cadiz (6-4) this Thursday, in a well disputed game right up until the final whistle.

With their goalkeeper also doing his bit in attack, the Spanish outfit made a strong start to the encounter, but it was Sporting CP who proved the more efficient in front of goal, striking twice in the second minute (Ott and António). Duarte extended the lead after a quick break forward, before Madjer made it 4-0 with an acrobatic finish.

Otto struck again just after the first break, before a slip up in defence gave Cadiz a lifeline through Ezequiel after the Sporting CP did well to parry away the initial effort.

The goal settled the Spanish side and and yellow card for Fran Mejias injected uncertainty into the afternoon. Ott rounded off his hattrick (6-2) and looked to have secured the result, before Ezequiel reduced the difference to 6-3. Next on the scoresheet was Venildo (6-4), but Sporting CP held out in the dying stages to secure a player in the quarter-finals.
