"We won't have a lot of time to adapt"

Nuno Dias looks ahead to the UEFA Futsal Cup Main Round

The countdown to the UEFA Futsal Cup Main Round has begun, with Sporting set to take on Centar Sarajevo at 17h00 on Wednesday in Group 5.

The Alvalade coach Nuno Dias sat down with the press on Tuesday afternoon, to share his thoughts on the coming encounters: "In all of the other groups every team in our group would qualify. We don't know a lot about the teams we will face and we won't have a lot of time to adapt, because there isn't even a training session before the second match", said the Sporting futsal coach.

Alvalade stars to take part in UEFA Futsal Cup Main Round

Caio Japa and Miguel Albuquerque, head of Sporting's futsal department, broke off from the pack heading to Italy for a few moments today, to affirm Sporting's intentions of claiming European silverware.

Nuno Dias' squad are in Group 5 Along with Bosnia's Centar Saravejo, Belgium's Halle-Gooik, and Italy's Real Rieti.
 
Caio Japa was the first to take the microphone, focusing straight away on Wednesday's opener against Centar Saravejo. "We don't know a lot about Centar Saravejo, but we know they have some good quality foreign players. We will take it one step at a time and we can't win the competition if we don't get past the Main Round first", said Japa, adding a word on the rest of the opposition: "Both Halle-Gooik, who are the Belgian champions, and Real Rieiti, who finished second in Italy, are really good sides. We are in the hardest group, but we know that we have what it takes to get through."
 
Miguel Albuquerque also laid out Sporting's hunger for trophies, while keeping the hype to a minimum: "We are really ambitious, but we can't let ourselves get obsessed. This is a squad that is used to winning titles and the players know what responsibilities playing for this club brings."
 
Sporting will open against Centar Saravejo at 17h00 on Wednesday, in the Palapaternesi Arena in Foligno, Italy.

Sporting CP beat Clarvaux 28-0 in a friendly in Luxemburg

The Clarvaux Arena in Luxemburg witnessed one of the finest displays of attacking futsal this weekend, with Sporting beating the Luxemburg side by a staggering 28-0.

Diogo was Sporting's top scorer with 7 goals, followed by Cavinato on six, Caio Japa and Varela with four, Dani with a hattrick and finally Deo, Mesquita, Paulinho and Marcão with goals of their own.

Futsal director Miguel Albuquerque on a tough UEFA Main Round draw

Sporting CP will again take part in the UEFA Futsal Cup this year, this time playing in the Main Round from the 11th to the 16th of October. The competition draw has put Sporting in Group 5, along with Belgium's Halle-Gooik, Italy's Real Rieti and the winner of Qualification Group D (Centar Saravejo, Istambul Universitesi SK, Lynx FC, or FC Baltija).

The two top teams will move into the Elite Round, along with the automatically qualified Inter FS, Ugra, Kairat Almaty and Dinamo.  

Miguel Albuquerque, head of Sporting's futsal department has already responded to what has been dubbed the 'group of death': "It wasn't a nice draw for us and it is a hard group. We will face the Italian runner-up, who are one of the best teams in the country, the Belgian champion, who reached the Elite Round last year, and the winner of Group D, who will be a good team too. However, we want to reach the Final Four and to of course win it."

Alvalade recent arrival to representKazakhstan in Colombia

Considered the 4th best player in the world in 2014, Sporting's new signing Léo da Rosa Mendonça will represent Kazakhstan at the Futsal Mundialito, form the 10th of September to the 2nd of October in Colombia.

Léo is at Alvalade on a loan deal from Kairat Almaty and also features in the Kazakhstan squad for a series ofr friendly matches in Thailand in August.

Alvalade athlete to represent Portugal in Brazil

The national futsal squad for the FISU World University Championship was announced this Wednesday, ahead of the beginning of the competition running from the 2nd to the 10th of July.

Alvalade athlete Manuel Mesquita, who is currently studying at Universidade Europeia, will represent Sporting at the event.

Naty, Maria Martins and Jenny all feature in first gathering of 2016

Sporting CP will be represented by a total of three players in the national female futsal team for its first training camp of 2016.

Naty, Jenny and Maria Martins are the three included by coach Luís Conceição, in a reflection of Sporting's current dominance in the national championship.

The Portuguese will face Russia on the 18th and 19th of April, in the Manuel Arriaga Secondary School's hall.

First-leg of FIFA Futsal World Cup play-off against Serbia

The Portuguese national futsal coach, Jorge Braz, has called a total of five Sporting players into his squad of 14 for the coming FIFA Futsal world Cup play-off against Serbia.

Paulinho, João Matos, Djô, Pedro Cary and Fábio Lima are the five who will take on their Serbian counterparts on the 22nd of March in Belgrade, before the return Lisbon on the 12th of April.
